This specimen was lot 20034 in Ponterio sale 176 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $8,812. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Edward IV, First Reign, 1461-1470. Ryal or Rose Noble, ND (1465-66). Sun. Coventry Mint. Light Coinage. Very Rare Coventry Mint Ryal S-1955; North-1551; Fr-132. 118.0 grains. King standing on ship, holding sword and shield; rose at side of ship and ‘E’ on stern. Coventry Mint with retrograde closed “C” mintmark (see Schneider 421). Rv. Sun at center surrounded by alternating crown/lion and lis within double tressure of eight arches. A very rare branch mint type. Fairly well balanced though some portions of the legends are muddled. Well struck with strong centers on a round, well-made flan. Very Fine. Ex: Sotheby’s, 1981."
