This specimen was lot 20013 in Ponterio sale 176 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $8,225. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Richard II (1377-1399). Noble, ND (1377-99). Impressive Richard II Noble S-1654; North-1302; Fr-100. 120.4 grains. King standing on ship, holding sword and shield. Rv. ‘R’ at center of cross; alternating crowns and lis within eight arches. Type IB. Cross pattée. An impressive example. Lustrous, well struck and well centered on a full flan. Trivial shortness of legend observed on the reverse as manufactured. Choice Extremely Fine. Ex: Spink, 1983."
