This specimen was lot 20001 in Ponterio sale 176 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $7,638. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Edward III, 1327-1377. Noble, Third Coinage. Third Period. ND (1346-51). S-1481; North-1110; Fr-86. 117.3 grains. King standing on ship, holding sword and shield. Rv. ‘E’ at center of cross; alternating crowns and lis within eight arches. Large letters. Lovely type coin with petty, but characteristic of the series, faults. The flan is minimally short of legend in a few spots and not fully struck up. Overall very handsome for the technical grade. Fine Plus. Ex: Seaby, 1985 (with tag)."
