This specimen was lot 34096 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold Counterstamped 1/2 Escudo ND (1849-57) MS63 NGC, KM 80. Type VI Lion within circle counterstamp upon Central American Republic 1/2 Escudo 1847-JB. A scarce type in all grades, bordering on rare in this state of preservation. With full golden brilliance."
