This specimen was lot 42491 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Siege of Cartagena. (1815) 1/2 Real. Restrepo 108.1. Copper. AU-53 (PCGS). Struck over a Cartagena provisional 1/2 Real, Restrepo 131. Rich medium brown with superb surface quality and very bold detail on both sides. The monogram competes with the undertype for supremacy on the obverse, and the cross and the inscription commingle on the reverse. These dies were meant to imitate a 1/2 Real type that was over a century old by this point, and most show evidence of far more circulation than this one. Elusive in any grade. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins."
