This specimen was lot 40115 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $750. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1757-S 2 Escudos. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Ferdinand VI (1746-1759). Restrepo 16.4. AU-50 (PCGS). Choice medium yellow gold with some contrasting encrustation in the peripheral legends. Some subtle scrapes between A of MAGNA and S of SEQUOR are left over from a light repair on a still present pit. Modest granularity is seen, but the strike, centering, and eye appeal are all excellent. A good looking early 2 Escudos of Bogotá. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Southwest Numismatics, August 1972."
Nuevo Reino (KM 30.1, Fr-19) struck 1756-60 and Popayan (KM 30.2, Fr-20) struck 1758-60.
