This specimen was lot 40066 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1799/8/7-JJ Escudo. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). Restrepo 84.15. UNC Detail — Scratch (PCGS). One of the more interesting overdates in the series, with the final digit punched over an 8 and a 7. A bold die crack from the rim to the back of the portrait undoubtedly limited the lifespan of this die. Frosty and original, with nicely toned surfaces and good visual appeal. A scrape from the rim to the forehead of the portrait is noted but fades in hand. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Glendining's sale of November 1971, lot 448."
