This specimen was lot 40049 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1790-SF Escudo. Popayán mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). Restrepo 83.3. MS-62 (PCGS). Bright and flashy, with light yellow gold surfaces showing abundant reflectivity and luster. The right side of the obverse shows significant strike doubling, and the entire coin is well defined. Defect free and very attractive. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins."
