This specimen was lot 40039 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1785-JJ Escudo. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Carlos III (1759-1788). Restrepo 52.30. MS-63 (PCGS). Extremely frosty and boldly lustrous. Some evidence of handling is present on the obverse, less on the reverse. The obverse shows evidence of a die clash and the raised filing lines from an attempt to remove the clash. The reverse is choice and well struck. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Harmer Rooke's sale of April 1975, lot 28."
