This specimen was lot 12294 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1872 20 Pesos. Medellín mint. Restrepo M337var. AU-50 (PCGS). Listed as RRRR by Sedwick but unlisted in Restrepo, this date has been missing from most major collections, though examples were present in Norweb and the May 1990 Sotheby's Geneva sale. This example is struck from the same dies as both and is finer than both, with bright yellow toning and butter smooth surfaces. The obverse is chatter double struck, most evident on the profile and legends at right. Some minor hairlines are seen, and a thin scratch from O of ESTADOS to the profile, but no other flaws. Very well struck and attractive, an important piece. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins. From Swiss Bank Corp's Auction 13, January 1984, lot 1866, via Kurt Spanier."
