This specimen was lot 12178 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1851 16 Pesos. Bogotá mint. Restrepo M213.4. AU Detail — Ex-Jewelry (PCGS). Even yellow gold with pebbly surfaces consistent with jewelry use. Still quite sharp and very rare, missing from Eliasberg, Sedwick, Geiger, and represented in Norweb by an example with an attempted puncture that still brought $990 20 years ago. Sedwick believed this was the rarest date in the series. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins. From Sotheby's sale of December 1994, lot 43."
KM-100, Fr-78, struck 1848-53 Bogota only. only a slight premium in the SCWC.
