This specimen was lot 11295 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $2,760. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1816-FM-P 8 Escudos. Popayán mint. Ferdinand VII (1808-1833). Restrepo M128.27. MS-61 (PCGS). Bright and satiny on the obverse, reflective on the reverse, but attractive and richly lustrous throughout. A lamination is noted in front of the profile, more subtle above the head and on the forehead. A little softly struck at centers, reverse die swollen beneath AUSPICE, totally free of noteworthy marks, a really excellent specimen of this date. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins. From Christie's Geneva sale of the Kurt Homme Collection, November 25-26, 1981, lot 816."
KM 66.2, Fr-61, assayers F, JF, FM.
