Colombia_1733_2_escudos_obv_H3032-24505.jpg(450 × 446 pixels, file size: 71 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

This specimen was lot 24505 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Philip V gold cob 2 Escudos 1733-M, Santa Fe mint, KM 17.2, Restrepo-M80.12, XF45 NGC. Well struck and a choice example considering this mint's usually poor production. The 3 digits of the date "733" and the M initial for assayer Molano are all fully visible. Another variety with all four digits of the date punched in the die is also known for this date (cf. Joe Lasser collection, Ponterio 1/2005, lot 870). Rare, desirable and worthy of a strong bid from the specialist."
