This specimen was lot 30070 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,406.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Great Eye-Appeal and Rarity Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand Harz-gold Ducat 1794-MC, KM1023, Fr-724, MS62 NGC. An attractive specimen with fully prooflike fields and devices that rise sharply and hold considerable frost. The type, produced over a number of years, is deceptively elusive with our research, yielding only a small handful of examples that have sold since 1999, with none being of the same date as the present.
