This specimen was lot 23148 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $12,925. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 10000 Reis 1906, KM 496, Russo-700, AU58 NGC. Mintage: 572. Impressively struck up in the centers with light planchet granularity in the fields as a result of heavy die adjustment marks that were placed on the flan prior to striking. An important date for the specialist with only example we have been able to trace in the last two decades being offered in the 1997 sale of the Norweb Collection."
