This specimen was lot 20096 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $18,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II gold 4000 Reis 1706-R, KM101, Russo-37 AU Details NGC, surface hairlines, nicely toned with extremely sharp details and excellent eye appeal, the surface hairlines noted by NGC are almost non-existent. The 1706 is the rarest date of the this 5-year type."
