This specimen was lot 611 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $5,287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Taler, 1664. Christian Ernst (1655-1712). NGC MS-65. Dav-6272; KM-78. Struck to commemorate the election of Christian Ernst to the Captainship of the Franconian Circle. Sharply struck, giving full detail to not only the pantheon of small arms on the reverse, but also right down to the texture of the horse's coat. Light toning over lustrous metal, small planchet flaw at 8 o'clock of reverse. Very attractive and exceptionally choice. From the Rockaway Collection."
