This specimen was lot 30810 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brandenburg-Ansbach. Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Taler 1729-V AU Details (Cleaning) PCGS, KM 168, Dav-1979. Visually superb, with broad gunmetal surfaces and a reverse that is drenched in teal and apricot iridescence. This scarce, singular issue commemorates the Accession of the margrave and features a choice strike from all angles, with cabinet patination that covers evidence of a cleaning that occurred long ago. Even at the details levels, this is a coin that should not be overlooked. Sold with an old sales ticket."

Rarer of two thalers for 1729.
