This specimen was lot 30809 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brandenburg-Ansbach. Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Taler 1727-V MS64 PCGS, KM 159, Dav-1977. A seldom-offered issue that features the portrait of Christiane Charlotte--the widow of Wilhelm Friedrich and regent for her son Karl Wilhelm Friedrich from 1723 until 1729--with the crowned arms of Brandenburg and Wurttemberg-Oels. Superbly toned, with steel-tinged fields and ebony color that has collected around the illustrations, all atop surfaces that shimmer with oil-slick iridescence. The strike is beyond impressive, rendering the margravine's portrait in high-relief format, and the reverse shields are intricately-detailed and outstanding. The only perceived imperfection on this piece comes in the form of a "beauty mark" above her cheek. Conditionally rare at this level and a tremendous offering of the type."

slightly more common of two thalers for 1727 (other is Dav-1978).
