This specimen was lot 29716 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brandenburg-Ansbach. Alexander gold Ducat 1769-S MS62 NGC, Schwabach mint, KM286, Fr-363. Struck on a noticeably wavy flan, this issue commemorates the acquisition of Bayreuth, displaying the facing busts of Georg Friedrich and Alexander with an open book atop an altar. The semi-reflective surfaces are truly captivating on this specimen, surrounding the fully-defined design elements in a warm glow. Conditionally rare and seldom available in the marketplace."
