This specimen was lot 577 in Jean Elsen sale 124 (Brussels, March 2015), where it sold for €__ (about US$__ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

" BRABANT, Duché, Charles II (1665-1700), AR ducaton, 1666, Bruxelles. Premier type. Piéfort de poids double. Droit : B. enfantin à droite, tête nue. Revers : Ecu couronné, tenu par deux lions, orné du bijou de la Toison d'or. Ref.: G.H., 348-2a; Delm., 326a. 61,41g. Extrêmement Rare. Léger coup sur la tranche. Seulement 84 exemplaires frappés. (duchy of Brabant, Charles II (1665-1700), silver ducaton of 1666, Brussels mint, first type, piedfort of double weight. Obverse: infant bust to right with bare head; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions, order of the Golden Fleece below. Extremely rare, light edge bump, only 84 examples struck. Very fine to extremely fine.)

Après la mort de Philippe IV, la frappe se poursuivit avec les anciens coins jusqu'en juin 1666. Les premières monnaies de Charles II furent ensuite frappées: le maître de la monnaie de Bruxelles reçut l'ordre de frapper 84 ducatons et 168 demi-ducatons en poids fort devant être distribués aux membres du Conseil de Malines et des Etats, à l'occasion de l'inauguration du nouveau souverain. Très Beau à Superbe. (After the death of Philip IV, minting continued using old dies until June 1666. The first coins of Charles II were then struck; the master of the mint received the order to strike 84 ducatons and 168 half ducatons as piedforts to be distributed among the members of the Council of State, on the occasion of the coronation of the new sovereign.)"
