This specimen was lot 30656 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $5,287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bavaria. Maximilian II 2 Taler 1848 MS64 PCGS, KM448.1 (KM833.1), Vereinsmünze edge. A striking example featuring the bust of Maximilian II and the statue of Johann Christopher von Gluck. Virtually perfect surfaces on this attractive and well-toned Double Taler with alluring iridescence beneath old cabinet patina. Scarce as this is the finest-known certified example in this Gem designation."
