This specimen was lot 20128 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1708-IMH. Vienna Mint. Joseph I. NGC MS-64. Dav-1013; KM-1444; Vogl-251/I. A highly attractive example of a SCARCE type in any grade, let alone in this lofty mint state designation. Piece exhibits rich old cabinet tone with hard slate patina, parts with hints of a blue sheen, in the peripherals and devices of the obverse. In contrast, the open fields and high points of the designs features display a lovely dove to medium grey tone. The reverse is a bit more even exhibiting an attractive mottled russet patina over medium grey surfaces highlighted by blue, purple and red iridescent hues. A lovely example with good eye appeal worthy of a premium bid."
