This specimen was lot 30010 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Rio de la Plata. Republic 8 Reales 1837/6 RA-P AU Details (Surface Hairlines) NGC, La Rioja mint, KM20, CJ-38. Very few handling marks account for the assigned designation. Nevertheless a very attractive type coin for this popular sunface type with beautiful toning. Despite being still unlisted in KM, all known specimens show some evidence of the 1837/6 overdate, as noted by Janson. On some specimens such as the present one, that evidence is only faint, which in turn would account for the (apparently not existent) reported plain 1837 date."
