Czechoslovakia 1934 10 dukatu
This specimen was lot 3286 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €13,000 (about US$17,522 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"TSCHECHIEN, TSCHECHOSLOWAKEI, Republik. 10 Dukaten 1934, Kremnitz. St. Wenzel. 34,41 g Feingold. GOLD. Nur 1.298 Exemplare geprägt. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (republic of Czechoslovakia, ten ducats of 1934, Kremnitz mint, St. Wenceslaus. Only 1,298 examples struck. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1929-38 and 1951 along with a dukat, 2 dukaty and 5 dukatu. This type is rarely seen circulated, suggesting the hoarding of what few examples escaped government vaults. The obverse portrait is of "good" king Wenceslas, he of the well-known Christmas carol.
