Queen Wilhelmina abdicated in 1948 in protest of Dutch colonial policy in Indonesia in favor of her daughter, Juliana, who would rule until 1980. New coin types were therefore necessary and were introduced in 1950. This nickel twenty-five cents was struck without change until 1980. No dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 18,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 3 g, nickel, 19 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 183, Sch-1145.
