Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70811

This specimen was lot 70811 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurttemberg. 3 Mark, 1909-F. Stuttgart Mint. Wilhelm II. NGC MS-65. Bright and lustrous, the lovely Gem exhibits a bold strike, frosty devices and smooth satiny surfaces." This type was struck 1908-14. It superseded the vereinsthaler which had been allowed to circulate after unification. The kingdom was abolished with the collapse of the Empire in 1918.

Recorded mintage: 1,906,698.

Specification: 16.66 g, 0.900 fine silver, .482 troy oz ASW, 33 mm diameter, lettered edge.
