This specimen was lot 994 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$371 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen-Coburg-Eisenach, Herzogtum Johann Kasimir und Johann Ernst II. 1572-1633. Taler 1594, Saalfeld. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Eisenach, John Casimir and John Ernest II, 1572-1633, thaler of 1594, Saalfeld mint. Very fine to good very fine.)"

The duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Eisenach was one of the endless reshuffles of the Saxon duchies and likely lasted only for this set of brothers. The division of Erfurt in 1572 permanently splintered Ernestine Thuringia into fragments which were not reunited until the establishment of the Weimar Republic in 1920.
