This specimen was lot 994 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$371 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen-Coburg-Eisenach, Herzogtum Johann Kasimir und Johann Ernst II. 1572-1633. Taler 1594, Saalfeld. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Eisenach, John Casimir and John Ernest II, 1572-1633, thaler of 1594, Saalfeld mint. Very fine to good very fine.)"
The duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Eisenach was one of the endless reshuffles of the Saxon duchies and likely lasted only for this set of brothers. This issue of 1587-98 could equally be filed under Saxe-Gotha and Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach.
