British Honduras 1936 cent

This type was struck 1914-36 and is rather scarce, especially in nice condition. The only other issue for British Honduras in 1936 was a copper-nickel five cents (KM 16) and silver ten cents (KM 20). The country, long claimed by Guatemala, is now known as Belize. The issues of British Honduras are marked by their dull design; the reverse on this coin was used during the reigns of queen Victoria, kings Edward VII, George V, George VI and later queen Elizabeth II. This specimen is from a recent William Rosenblum sale (Littleton, CO, February 2012), where it sold for $100.

Recorded mintage: 40,000 plus fifty proofs.
