Sincona sale 69, lot 896

This specimen was lot 896 in Sincona sale 69 (Zurich, May 2021), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,195 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"THE NETHERLANDS | Utrecht, Provinz. Dukaton 1769, Utrecht. Zilveren rijder. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. Herrliche Patina. Überprägungsspuren. (Netherlands, province of Utrecht, ducaton of 1769, Utrecht mint, silver rider. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine, Most attractively toned, Traces of overstriking.)"

The type was struck with a cabled edge 1739-94 or a flowered edge 1746-49, 1756-79. Not having this example to examine, we don't know which one this is.

Recorded mintage: 42,000.

Specification: 32.78 g, 0.941 fine silver, this specimen 32.46 g.
