This specimen was lot 72428 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hildesheim. 4 Pfennig, 1717. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. Quality that is never encountered for the type, this incredibly brilliant, well struck example is a decided cut above that which is generally seen." This type was struck 1702-33 of billon by the city, not the bishop. The price realized for this example matches the catalog value for Extremely Fine.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: billon.
Catalog reference: KM 251.
