This specimen was lot 10116 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €1,080 (about US$1,126). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 8 Kroneskilling, 1619. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC EF Details--Damaged. Rare type with date on both obverse and reverse. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: L. Chr. Petersen Collection (Copenhagen-1914/1918) Lot # 546." This type was struck 1619 only and was worth 1/12 speciedaler. It seems to have been part of an unsuccessful attempt to replace the debased minor coinage with coin of good silver. One, two, four and eight kroneskilling exist. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.14 g, 0.859 fine silver.
