Tuscany 1827 1/2 fiorino

from Stack's Bowers 2016 ANA sale, part of lot 21108

This specimen was part of lot 21108 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), which did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. 1/4 & 1/2 Fiorino, 1827. PCGS MS-65 Secure Holder. Both are finest graded at PCGS. A wonderfully matched set of GEM MINT STATE coins with super strikes and in an exquisite state of preservation. Both are toned, the smaller coin displaying a bit darker gunmetal coloration, with the larger 1/2 Fiorino a clear amber hue." This type is listed for 1827 only. Leopold, a junior Hapsburg prince, ruled Tuscany until it was incorporated into the united kingdom of Italy in 1859-60.

Recorded mintage: unknown but very scarce.
