This specimen was part of lot 21108 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), which did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. 1/4 & 1/2 Fiorino, 1827. PCGS MS-65 Secure Holder. Both are finest graded at PCGS. A wonderfully matched set of GEM MINT STATE coins with super strikes and in an exquisite state of preservation. Both are toned, the smaller coin displaying a bit darker gunmetal coloration, with the larger 1/2 Fiorino a clear amber hue." This type is listed for 1827 only. Leopold, a junior Hapsburg prince, ruled Tuscany until it was incorporated into the united kingdom of Italy in 1859-60.
Recorded mintage: unknown but very scarce.
Specification: 3.43 g, 0.917 fine silver.
