Heritage sale 3010, part of lot 22568
Frankfurt 1784 kreuzer rev Heritage 3010-22568.jpg

This specimen was part of lot 22568 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Frankfurt- Free City. Six exceptional 1 Kreuzer Coins: (4) 1773, KM253; 1778, KM257.1; and 1784, KM267. All coins UNC, most unusual thus." Frankfurt issued an extensive series of kreuzers 1763-89 in various types. This type, issued 1784-89, is less common than earlier issues. Frankfurt was annexed by Prussia in 1866 and its coinage ceased.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 0.66 g, billon.

Catalog reference: KM 267.
