This specimen was lot 6328 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $1,035. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "MEXICO. Guadalupe Y Calvo. 8 Reales, 1850-MP. Ex: Ponterio Auction #146, lot # 491 where it hammered for $1,200. Slightly weak strike on eagle's breast, dipped. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." This mint was open 1844-52 and assayer MP is the only one recorded for that mint, which struck all the silver and gold denominations, from the quarter real to the eight escudos.
