Künker sale 353, part of lot 3613

This specimen was part of lot 3613 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), which sold for €480 (about US$668 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 18-Gröscher a) 18-Gröscher 1754 E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit PRVSS in der Rückseitenumschrift. Exemplar der Auktion Dr. Busso Peus Nachf. 321, Frankfurt/Main 1988, Nr. 1309. ...2 Stück., Sehr schön-vorzüglich und vorzüglich, (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 18 groscher of 1754, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with "PRVSS" in the reverse legend. [One of] two pieces, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck in 1751-54 for use in East Prussia and the neighboring parts of Poland. It was worth about a fifth of a thaler and was accompanied by a six groscher and three groscher. Another tympf (KM A266 was struck in 1754 with an armored bust of the king.
