This specimen was lot 23420 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "NETHERLANDS. [[Netherlands, Zeeland|Zeeland]]. Ducaton, 1742. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. A lovely example of this collectible type displaying rich attractive grey tone with an iridescent blue sheen that pops out when tilted in the light. A small portion of weakness is noticed on obverse and corresponding area on the reverse due to misaligned dies mentioned for accuracy. Overall a handsome representative of the type with good eye appeal sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. From the BKingdom Collection." The specimen is one of a type issued for the province of Zeeland 1716-17, 1731-76, 1785-93. Each province of the Netherlands issued its own coins; besides Utrecht, there are coins for Deventer, Friesland, Gelderland, Groningen, Holland, Overijssel, West Friesland and Zeeland, not counting various local issues. The Netherlands were swallowed up in Napoleon's empire and after his fall, reconstituted as a kingdom.
