This specimen was lot 3615 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €180 (about US$248 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Wilhelm I., 1816-1864. Gulden 1854. Stempelschneider Carl Friedrich Voigt. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Erworben im Juli 1988 aus dem Lager der Münzhandlung Sonntag, Stuttgart.'' ([[German States, Wurttemberg|kingdom of Württemberg]], William I, 1816-64, gulden of 1854. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"</blockquote> King William began his reign as a liberal, granting Wurttemberg a constitution and reforming taxes, customs duties and agriculture, but grew reactionary after the revolutions of 1848. One gulden was sixty kreuzer. This type was struck 1838-54. It is a common type although this is likely to be a scarce date.
