This specimen was lot 32274 in Heritage sale 3105 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $22,800. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Netherlands]]: [[Netherlands, Utrecht|Utrecht]]. Provincial silver Double Ducaton (2 Silver Rider) 1732 MS65 NGC. Laudably bold, leaving an impression of visual balance and quality that render this offering a highly sought-after and collectible issue of the type. Rarely encountered in this most appreciable double-thick Piefort format where examples of any date and province are hard to locate, let alone examples in comparable states of preservation. Among the finest Ducatons we've had the pleasure of handling when considering both rarity and condition. From the Coenen Collection." Altho the SCWC lists the double ducaton as a pattern, enough exist of various dates to confirm that it was a normal issue, even if struck only for presentation. Ordinary single ducatons were struck throughout the eighteenth century until 1794.
