This specimen was lot 1652 in Jean Elsen sale 165 (Brussels, June 2026), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,203 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''ÉTATS-UNIS, AV 10 dollars, 1886. Nettoyé. Très Beau à Superbe.'' (United States, gold ten dollars of 1886. Cleaned, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"</blockquote> This specimen is one of a type struck at the Philadelphia mint 1839-1907. Issues are also recorded from New Orleans (1841-60, 1879-1906), San Francisco (1854-89, 1892-1907), Carson City (1870-84, 1890-93) and Denver (1906-07). In 1866, the motto "In God We Trust" was added to the reverse. This date is common in all grades thru Uncirculated altho Gems are scarce.
