This specimen was lot 3159 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $204. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Ukraine|UKRAINE]]: Republic, AR 10 hryven, 2006, Hetman Capital Cities Series - Chyhyryn, struck at the Ukrainian mint, Kyiv, with COA of issue, Proof." Chyhyryn is now a small town of extreme obscurity. Between 1984 and 1989, a nuclear power plant was under construction there but it was never completed or commissioned. This denomination was used for numerous commemoratives in 2006, including [[Ukraine 2006 10 hryven KM-392|KM 392]], [[Ukraine 2006 10 hryven KM-410|KM 410]], KM 421, KM 423, KM 424 (shown here), [[Ukraine 2006 10 hryven KM-425|KM 425]] and [[Ukraine 2006 10 hryven KM-427|KM 427]], all struck in sterling silver. The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovantsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven.
