This specimen was lot 4016 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $158.63. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. 1/2 Paolo, 1839. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Rosy hued toning. Very sharp details." This type, struck 1832 and 1839, was superseded by a similar coin with a older bust of the duke (KM C68a) struck 1853-59. A francescone, equivalent to the old [[Tuscany 1684 piastra Dav-4212|piastra]] or tallero, was worth four fiorini or ten paoli. This coin is slightly heavier than a half dime. In the 1830's, [[Italy, Tuscany|Tuscany]] was ruled by a Hapsburg prince, Leopold II.
