This specimen was lot 6453 in CNG Triton XXVIII (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $551.25. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "TURKEY, Republic. 1923-present. AV 100 Kurush. Monnaie de Luxe. Istanbul mint. Dated 1972. Head of Kemal Ataturk left within border of stars and floral pattern / Legend within border of stars and floral pattern. Proof-like fields, some spotting, light marks. UNC. From the Drewry Family Collection. Ex El Dorado (14 July 1984), lot 470." This ''monnaie de luxe'' was struck 1942-2010 for use in jewelry. It is wider and thinner than the [[Turkey 1923(43) 100 kurush|hundred kurush]] struck for bullion. The style recalls the elaborate calligraphy found on old Ottoman gold coins. It is not known circulated. While this coin has an exalted value in the SCWC, it normally trades for its bullion value, as here.
