This specimen was lot 11 in Sincona sale 31 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 3,400 CHF (about US$4,036 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "OTTOMAN TUNIS | Ahmed I (1012-1026ah/1603-1617ce) ¼ sultani 1013ah (1603ce) AU RRRR vf. This exceedingly rare coin (fraction) first appeared on the market in Künkers Sultan Collection, Part 3, Auction 231, 16 March 2013. The description of the lot (#9791) is most informative." Friedberg lists no gold coins for Tunisia prior to the Turkish decimal reform of 1839. The SCWC mentions a sultani (KM 7, 3.5 g) for this ruler but no fractions. It is doubtless rare.
