This specimen was part of lot 31654 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), which sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "French Mandate Three-piece Set 1925, 1) 50 Centimes 1925, KM 1, Lec-8, MS66 PCGS; 2) 1 Franc 1925, KM 2, Lec-11, MS65 PCGS; 3) 2 Francs 1925, KM 3, Lec-15, MS65 PCGS. Paris mint, all are well struck, with bright golden luster." Togo, originally explored and annexed by Germany in the 1880's, was partitioned by France and England after World War One. The western (British) portion eventually became part of Ghana, while the eastern portion, after a period as a French colony, became the independent Republic of Togo in 1960. This coin was issued by the French 1924-26 for the colony before independence; it is rather scarce today. The Patey head of ''Mlle Liberté'' appears on other French colonial coinage of the period, such as [[Cameroon 1924 50 centimes|Cameroon]].
