This specimen was lot 396 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Sweden|SWEDEN]], Avesta mint, copper ½ daler 'plate money', Fredrik I, 1735. Cute little piece with all five stamps clear (four dates) and only minor edge-loss from corrosion. With original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from ''Nicobar'', sunk in 1783 off South Africa." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = one mark and 96 öre = one riksdaler. This type was issued 1720-50 and is the most common half daler plate. Millions were made but most were melted down to make other copper or bronze objects.
