This specimen was lot 11237 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €288 (about US$300). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Sweden|SWEDEN]]. Öre, 1564. Stockholm Mint. Erik XIV. NGC AU Details--Environmental Damage. Part of edge missing. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." Erik XIV (1543-77) succeeded his father Gustav Vasa in 1560. After displaying symptoms of insanity, he was deposed by his half brother John III in 1568 and spent the rest of his life in prison. This type was struck 1564 of debased silver to cover the regime's bankruptcy. <br />
