Der Taler 1534 mit der Darstellung des stehenden Königs Gustav mit Barett zählt zu den klassischen Raritäten der schwedischen Numismatik. Daher ist das Stück äußerst selten. Dies hängt auch damit zusammen, daß die Taler mit der Jahreszahl 1534 seinerzeit großenteils ins Ausland verschwanden. Der Krieg gegen Lübeck und die Anhänger des abgesetzten dänischen Königs Christian II. verschlang große Summen, die zum Teil als Sold an Söldner und zum Teil als Finanzhilfe an den späteren König Christian III., den dänischen Bündnispartner von Gustav Eriksson, bezahlt werden mußten. In der schriftlichen Überlieferung finden sich Belege für große derartige Zahlungen. Von diesem seltenen Münztyp befinden sich nach unserer Kenntnis sechs Exemplare in Privatbesitz.'' The 1534 thaler with the depiction of King Gustav standing with a beret is one of the classic rarities of Swedish numismatics. This makes the piece extremely rare. This is also due to the fact that the thalers with the year 1534 mostly disappeared abroad at the time. The war against Lübeck and the supporters of the deposed Danish King Christian II consumed large sums of money, some of which had to be paid as wages to mercenaries and some as financial aid to the later King Christian III, the Danish ally of Gustav Eriksson. There is evidence of large payments of this kind in the written records. As far as we know, there are six examples of this rare coin type in private hands.)</p></blockquote> Daveport records four different dalers for 1534: Dav-8691 (standing figure of the king, wearing a cap, shown here), [[Sweden 1534 daler Dav-8692|Dav-8692]] (standing figure of the king, wearing a crown), [[Sweden 1534 daler Dav-8693|Dav-8693]] (small caped bust) and [[Sweden 1535 daler Dav-8694|Dav-8694]] (large caped bust). All are rare. Gustav Vasa is considered the father of Sweden, having led her permanent separation from Denmark.
