The first specimen was part of lot 3837 in Goldberg sale 70 (Los Angeles, September 2012), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description[1] noted, "[[Swaziland]]. 1 Lilangeni, 1968. Sobhuza II. Bust left. On independence. PCGS graded Proof 67 Deep Cameo." The second specimen was lot 2006 in Sincona sale 38 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,679 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted, <blockquote>"''Sobhuza II. 1968-1982 1 Lilangeni 1968. Unabhängigkeit. Fast FDC.'' (kingdom of Swaziland, Sobhuza II, 1968-82, one lilangeni of 1968, for independence. About uncirculated.)"</blockquote> Swaziland is wedged between the Republic of South Africa and Mozambique.

''Recorded mintage:'' 2,000 proofs with many melted.

''Specification:'' 33.93 g, .917 fine gold, 1.000 troy oz AGW, designed by Tommy Sasseen; this second specimen is 33.95 g.
