The first specimen was lot 379 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €6,300 (about US$8,314 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''1809. Fernando VII. Lleida. 5 pesetas. Algunas rayitas y golpecitos pero ejemplar muy digno para esta pieza, con las leyendas completas. Muy rara. MBC+.'' (kingdom of [[Spain]], Ferdinand VII, five pesetas of 1809, Lerida mint. Some scratches and nicks but a solid example of the type with complete legends. Very rare, choice very fine.)"</blockquote> The second specimen was lot 380 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €5,500 (about US$7,258 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''1809. Fernando VII. Lleida. 5 pesetas. Busto "Séneca". Acuñación floja. Da idea de la rareza de esta pieza el hecho de ser el mismo cuño de la publicada por Calicó (en todas las ediciones) y por Yriarte. Además, este busto no está reproducido en la extensa obra de Calbetó. Sólo hemos tenido otros 2 ejemplares. MBC+.'' (kingdom of [[Spain]], Ferdinand VII, five pesetas of 1809, Lerida mint, "Seneca" bust, weakly struck. The rarity of this coin may be discerned from it being the plate coin in both editions of Calicó and in Yriarte. It is not mentioned in Calbetó. We know of two examples. Choice very fine.)"</blockquote> Lerida is the capital of the province of the same name and forms the northwest part of [[Coinage of Catalonia|Catalonia]]. It was briefly the site of a patriot mint during the initial phase of the Spanish uprising against French occupation. The crude dies for this peso vary widely but all are rare.
